7 things I learned from Jamie Dimon
How has he sustained greatness over the course of his career?
While building Digit, I had the privilege of meeting several times with Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorganChase. One of the things I would ask was how he’s stayed at the top of your his over the course or his career. Here are a few behaviors I took away from those conversations:
- He hates rushing. He tries to organize his day and schedule so he's never rushing between meetings, to make decisions etc...
- He tries to spend the first few hours of each morning exercising and reading.
- He doesn't care about being a socialite. He’s at work or he's with his family. You won't find him at a black tie ball.
- He'll quickly end a meeting if it becomes apparent the participants aren't clear on ground truth of what they're talking about.
- He expects everyone on his team to followup with agency. If someone has to remind you to follow up, you’ve failed.
- He despises pre-meeting politic-ing and politic-ing in general, he called this "rope-a-dope". He'll root it out and squash it.
- He’s straight shooter. He says whats on his mind. You'll always know where he stands on any topic or decision.
